HELENE RELIEF BLOG & UPDATES
In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, 3GEN Ministries has been coordinating efforts among our staff, ministry partners, business leaders, and volunteers with relief workers, pastors, and key individuals in the affected areas across Upstate SC and Western NC.
Thank you to all who have donated supplies, made contributions, and served on work crews over the past week. Much has been accomplished but much more still needs to be done. The devastation and loss is great and the relief efforts will extend into the coming weeks, months and years.
The needs of affected people are changing daily and 3GEN continues to leverage our connections and contacts to best focus our efforts. Please review the sections below for details on how you can donate, volunteer, pray and stay updated.

CONTRIBUTIONS
We have set up a Disaster Relief Fund to collect and distribute donations specifically for Helene Disaster Relief in this region.
FIREWOOD HARVESTING
One major immediate need is to begin collection of firewood for future deliveries to devastated communities in western NC. The South Carolina upstate experienced a massive wind event last week which left large hardwood trees on the ground everywhere. There aren’t as many trees down in Western North Carolina, as it was primarily a water and mud event. We have talked with families who said that firewood is a significant need going into the cold season without power.
With all the trees downed by Helene, there is an immense amount of firewood sitting on curbs and yards all over our region. We are looking for people to organize efforts in their neighborhoods, or any other areas that need help, and recruit other friends and neighbors who have chainsaws and a desire to help.
We are putting a more robust plan together right now for our “FREEDOM FIREWOOD” initiative and will send details out soon.
For now, just claim the downed trees in your area and pull people together to start cutting, splitting, and stacking. Once we have a temporary staging location, we will let you know where to bring it. If no one in your neighborhood or area has a truck or a trailer that is available to deliver, indicate that on your response form and we can help coordinate that with you.

RESPONSE TEAM SIGN UP
We are assembling teams to deliver supplies and to assist in recovery work in the area. Supply delivery crews need ATVs and similar vehicles to reach areas inaccessible by car/truck. Work crews need volunteers equipped with shovels, rakes, chainsaws, gas, accessories, ATVs, etc. Boots and strong backs are needed as well. If you are available, please complete the form below. There will be additional opportunities for many weeks and months ahead, so let us know if you can help.

PRAYER
We ask that you join with us to pray for the following requests…
Pray for God's protection and provision for those without power, food, water, and other critical resources.
Pray for comfort for those who have lost loved ones and shelter.
Pray for wisdom, clarity and safety for all the leaders, decision makers, first responders, and volunteers as they direct resources to help those in need.
Pray for the pastors and community leaders who are tasked with the heavy and relentless burden of caring for the people in their communities.
